December

December started with a few weeks of trail building, and I started with some studio paintings of the trail in the meadows below boulder pass

The Sky is lit with pinks and yellows that glow against the purple and blue Shadows

Staff Training week was great, and I got accustomed to what it means to live in a 1930s lodge with only oil lamps and candles to light my space while I painted

Temple mountain Stands perfectly framed at the end of the meadows, and the snow glows pink through polarized lenses

I will certainly be painting more shots of the inside of this beautiful lodge… this painting technically qualifies as my first plein air piece… it was amazing having the lodge to ourselves before we welcomed our first guests

A shot of the Piano That was long roped by helicopter to Skoki in the 80s

Im not sure of the exact year, but one summer Skoki staff pooled their tips for an entire summer to purchase the piano, it was flown out to Skoki on a long line attached to a helicopter in the following february during a cold snap

Im proud to say that this piece was purchased by Maggie (skokis current manager) to give as a gift to Ed and Vanessa the previous managers who worked at skoki for a number of years before i got out there!

it has been amazing having a piano out there to play, and as of right now ive got a set of 3 songs i’ve been playing nightly for the guests, the vibes of a piano in the backcountry are unmatched.

the piano has also become the home of my paintings that i have done while working out there
